I always assumed it was because when you have guests over you usually pick out a special meal to prepare. So the host is doing the same thing, knowing that they have company they are cooking better than they would do on an average night. I know that when I am home I feel that my mom cooks better for company than when it is just the family.

hi,i always thinkk the same thing.When your at someone elses home and they cooked a home cooked meal,it is sooo good,because you didn't have to
slave over a hot stove and oven,and worry if the guests will like it..I t is a stress free situation for yourself and the other guests.Everything tastes better to me when i don't have too cook. I amm an excellant cook ,too( ijust hate working my butt off and my meal is wolfed down fast,and it took me alot of time and effort to make it and its gone..FAST..it depresses me.( Thanksgiving, is a good example of what i am talking about)That is my answer,is it a good oanswer or a poor answer...it is a honest answer...

perhaps they are better cooks than you are, and the other reason if you dont have to cook a meal and you can sit back and watch, then that could make you have a good appetite and it would taste all that much better.

It's probably cause they use different cooking tools to make the food or they may use a different brand of food cause they have a different background than you.....or they just like to use that one brand for what ever reason.

it never tastes better when someone else cooks it, i'm always paranoid that there hair in it or its not cooked properly, so i do my own cooking

Because you are probably in a more relaxed atmosphere by not having the stress of cooking at home.

I don't think that's always true, but I think sometimes it does, just because you don't have to cook or clean and get to just sit there and be served.
