Why is it written "May contain traces of peanuts or other kind of nuts" on peanut butter jars. Are people stupid enough not to realise it themselves?

I guess so ...but you would think they would know that when they spread the butter of peanuts on their bread ...that yeah...this product might just contain some nuts.......lol.....rotfl...

Sometimes, in things such as baked goods ,with no visible traces of nuts, it must be stated. I have never seen that on a jar of peanut butter though!

Some factories make more than one product and they use the same machines to make all of them. They put this on the labels because some people have SERIOUS food alergies. They need to know that the product has been in or around certain products.Think of it as a warning label to those who have SERIOUS food alergies. Some are so bad that just being around someone wh had eaten certain things can set off an allergic reaction. lol

They can realize it themselved but it is a law that anything that contains traces of nuts or nut oils, or if something is made on a machine that is also used to make things with nuts or nut oils, they have to state it on the package. go figure

Yes. Products liability lawyers are always suing manufactures of anything and everyting because of lack of warning labels.

surely there was someone stupid enough to make them put those signs...like on irons when it says it's hot or remove the packing before use
