Personally, I'd use a Thank You note that is handwritten because it's more personable and shows that you put in the time. A simple note that says:

Thank you for having a meeting with me. I enjoyed our visit and look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

your name

You don't want to be too lengthy. You could type it, but business is cold and detached. If your objective is to warm up the relationship, you'd want it to be handwritten to show that you put some time into going to a store to get a card.

Short and sweet will do. Be sincere.

Tell client you appreciate and thanks client for the time and a most fruitful meeting.

Go on to recap some key points of the meeting and how it will be followed up etc.
