I'm from Singapore and we're actually the same. The movies aren't on the big screens here for very long because Singapore is small and we don't have that many cinemas here and hence the change of movies is quite often because hollywood's like coming out movies every week! so in order to keep up, the rotation must be quick

Perhaps because Australians go to the movies more often than Americans so the movies must change quickly to keep the customers coming back.

I don't know about Aussieland, but some countries put limits on the time a US movie can run because they don't want Hollywood to dominate their market or their films cannot compete.
