This will only happen if Paolo Maldini retired in the next two-three years.
I vote for Alessandro Nesta. Even tho, he does not play for Ac Mialn more than 5 years. Because he have the leadership qualities and he can play and defend flawlessly. Beside, he used to be the captain for Lazio.

Maldini is the current captain we are talking about the next! Andrea Pirlo is my fav. player in the world but I prefer Nesta to be the next captain. Pirlo has to link up the ball up front, doing setpieces, defend, attack, too busy to deal with other things.
I always think defender would make the best captain materials as standing at the back of the pitch, makes one read the match more clearly. Sandro is a world class defender as everybody knows, and yeah he was the captain of Lazio by the age of 25. Too sad he injures himself too much lately.

First of all i think that Maldini may be retiring at the end of this season. He realizes that his injuries just won't go away and at 38, he knows it will only get worse.
for "swaps-diabloF.C": It was Maldini's choice not to play with the national team after 2002 World Cup.
The next captain should be Gattuso. He has matured, and is probably the best representative of the team.
Nesta is a whiner and is injured too much. Cafu would be a better choice (but he too is 38). Kaladze is another good choice.

I'd have to go with Paolo Maldini...he's an excellent player I think he'd make a great captain. Nesta is also a possibility.

I would love to see Andrea Pirlo as Capitan.
I think he has this laid back, nice and cool captain attitude, and he is a team player.
Wow! Gattuso would be fun to see, although I don't think he emanated that peace that usually captains spread to their teams on the field. That's why for me, it's Pirlo.

i agree with u about nesta but i think he's going back to lazio cuz he wants to end his career there, n pirlo is also good if he becomes the captain for milan...

maldini is the best man .....pls dont think of changin it cuz hes the best defender n not takin him in the international team is ITALY's bad luck
if he were in the team they would hav won it more convincingly!!!
