Nice question and a nice thought maybe. I do think vampire_kitti had a good answer in one view.
However I do see that here one can post a question and get answers from all different classes of individuals where a chat group it kinda narrowed down to those who do want to chat. Most in my view are in chat not to think at all but to just give their opinions and try to find support for such. Of course I may be wrong for I am a lot of times.
I first came to Q&A because I had a homework question of my daughters that I could not answer. Guess what, I got no answer at all to it here for no one did respond. However I did read some of the questions and have been hooked since then.
I come here to enjoy and I usually am serious with my answers but I like to do it with a smile and some jokes if possible. The chat group I find is the place to go when truly nothing to do and most of the time In the jokes, one must be truly senseless. maybe I am just in the wrong Group.
Anyway in answer to your question maybe it would be nice because the answer could better understand your real question and not have to guess so much as to what you are asking. Maybe Yahoo will give it some thought.

would be way too cool if we can-- so we can clarify some issues regarding answers given-- or simply strike a conversation with a smart and funny person. and while you're at it, add an iggy button to screen out the rude ones.
it can be another column on the far right side, an open chat window for those who want to discuss the topic more. rude ones can be screened out by the asker.

Funny, I was just thinking about how cool it would be if the person who asks a question could comment on the answers they got if they wanted to. I guess that would in many cases result to chatting though, but it would still be cool.
