I have never been put in a sleeper hold, exept in my wrestling training... and by christ it can be bad!!!

I put it on someone once when in a fight. I just got out of a night club when out of the blue... someone attacked me. I am not a violent person and I dont purposely get into fights... but I had no alternative in this one.

Although I am a bit muscley, you wouldnt think I could look after myself. This guy was about 6ft 4", and I am 5ft 7". I still dont know why he attacked me.

Anyway, he tried hard to punch me and I wrestled him... kneeing him and elbowing him as he tried to 'wiggle' out.

He put himself in a weird position which was perfect for a choke - or what people call a slepper hold. He went to sleep so damn quicky because I blocked his blood flow and he struggled to breathe. I did apply the sleeper quite aggressively, because I trained myself to in a real fight. I thought no more of it.

I let go of him... at the time he couldnt get back up and try his luck with me again....

I told his mates to take him to a hospital because he may need a check up and then I walked away.

So answering your question... yes it put HIM to sleep. As for me, we dont go as far as putting someone to sleep in training.

I just want to add more here because people say that the sleeper hold doesnt put you to sleep --- YES IT DOES!!!
It blocks your blood flow to your head... causing you to 'black out' so to speak. I wont be detailed about it... but if done properly, you will "fall asleep".....

You MUST BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL with this if you try it. I did for self defence only and because I know what Im doing with my holds. If you do try it... do what we do in training... DONT NOT PUT IT ON PROPERLY... JUST ENOUGH SO THE GUY "TAPS OUT". Once he or she has tapped, you let go immediately!!!!

All the best!!!

I can't say I experienced it for myself, but one of my older brothers put my younger brother into a sleeper hold & knocked him out. I don't know whether they were playing or just trying to best each other out, but that hold did put my younger brother to sleep.

Yes, had the hold done. And done it also. It blocks the blood flow to the brain. Making you, "sleep" pass out. It is not good for you. Causes minor brain damage. Do not do it.

yes, if you put it on correctly it does because it is wrapped around the throat, and if you apply pressure it cuts of oxygen to the brain. It causes you to pass out but you regain your consciousness after a couple of seconds. my uncle and i used to put it on each other when i was growing up, pretty dumb, but we were kids.

Yeah i did it to my mate who was annoying me the once, it made him blank out for a second or two, but please dont try it as he may get up and get his big brother on to you, believe me, its not nice being 14 years old and having his 21 year old brother doing the same to you!!!!!
