Right or wrong, I suspect that Hizbollah gained a lot of supporters. People don’t like ‘bullies’ and will often aim their allegiance toward the ‘underdogs’. In this case, the underdogs ‘Hizbollah’ were seen as standing up to bullies ‘Israel’ and that would have earned them a lot of supporters! The message against ‘bullies’ is universal. It is perhaps a message that George W. Bush would do well to heed!!!

They did gain support, especially in the arab world. They also stood up to the Israeli army and dispelled the idea that the IDF is "invincible". Also, since Israel promised to destroy them, they handed Israel a defeat simply by surviving. It was not a victory for Hezbollah though, the lebanese prisoners are still in Israel, and a very high cost was paid (much of southern lebanon lies in ruins).

they sure gained a lotta respect!! but as for physical achievements i dont think they got what they wanted yet!!!
all they wanted was a prisoners swap!!
release the women and children and some of the men who have been in Israeli prisons for 25 years and they will release the 2 soldiers!!!
that was what they wanted and that was what started this whole mess!!!!
but again Israel was so ready for this operation which makes one think that they were planning on invading Lebanon some time in the near future!!!!

They have shown they can stand up to the army of israel. They are have not been defeated and continue to launch rockets into israel. Israeli didnt stop the attacks and they have shown that israel is not as strong as they think. They killed quite a few troops of the israeli army.

Im not sure about the support issue. i think many arabs now will give them more support because they fought with israel.
