A bee's favourite colour is a colour that we humans can't even see. It has been termed "bee's purple" and is a colour formed by a blend blend of ultraviolet and yellow. Since human eyes can't see ultraviolet we can't see bee's purple but we can detect it using special cameras. We can even produce bee's purple coloured paints that look yellow to us but drive bees wild.

I saw an article recently posted on Yahoo regarding this. They are attracted to warmth. This was demonstrated by artificially warming plants of a colour they would normally be less attracted to. This would appear to back up some of the other answers regarding UV and infra red. It's a while since I did physics but I think the IR part of the spectrum produces the heat. Why do you ask this question? I'm speculating now but I would suppose warmer plants generate more nectar.

Isn't it the Ultra Violet rays they give off rather than colour that attracts the bees

I'm not sure if they can see colours, they might use their sense of smell instead. If they had a favourite it would probably be Yellow.
