The full names DO NOT have to be read during the ceremony, at least not in the US. If you want to be referred to by a nickname, such as "Binky", during the ceremony, that's OK.
You can write your own vows that aren't anything like the traditional vows of "love, honor, and obey' if you wish.

They have to ask the full names as part of the service they are conducting is the legal part, hence the "are there any persons here present" etc etc, it is a legal requirement for the officiating person to fully declare ALL names to all the witnesses

yep they are supposed to say all names in full!!! ou could chaneg it my deed poll before that would stop it, or via solicitor doing general 'name change'
