It used to go on all the time. Just look at the history of the British Royal Family.
e.g. I believe that William of Orange was married to his first cousin Mary. They then forcibly took the English throne from Mary's father, James II if I remember correctly.

There is apparently something called "gene attraction"? Where if you are not brought up with your close relatives (and this can even happen between brothers and sisters, fathers and daughters, or mothers and sons), when you do meet them you are highly attracted to them. I saw a doctor talking about it on TV.

As for children, I'm not sure if any children would be affected or not. You probably need to ask your doctor on that point.

In the UK this is legal but it seems like a bad idea and it is a very big taboo. If you want children, forget it. They are likely to be mentally ill and/or horribly deformed. You really aren't giving them the best start you can in life which doesn't seem fair. With all the best will in the world contraception and even sterilisation is not 100% so you might have children by mistake which would be a tragedy for them.

The social climate of the UK is not condusive to this type of marriage and many would be very opposed to it. You would live a covert life of repression.

Please just be friends with your cousin and choose someone you are not relted to.

Of course its morally wrong. I mean your 1st cousins are like your brothers and sisters because the blood is still very close no matter how many years you haven't seen them.

Well, you may want to check with your local authorities. In many states, such as Texas, marrying a first cousin IS illegal. As far as the morality of it, if you KNOW they are your first cousin then, yes, it is morally wrong, in my humble opinion. There are also certain birth defects that can come about with such marriages. I would think long and hard before making this decision.

If you want to get married you have to get permission from the vicar marrying you. I personally don't think it is that immoral as you haven't seen each other in so long, but to be honest further down the line when kids come along etc. they can have problems because you are both from the same blood line not to mention the reaction from your family......I would hold off if you can and just stay friends

The reason is genetics...

if two very genetically close people get together and produce offspring like brothers and sister or 1st cousins... All the bad genes come out and the babies are likly to have all the bad genetic problems and defects or disabilities...

if you want your kids to end up looking like the banjo player from dileverence then marry. aside from the physically dangers to the unborn its also morally wrong. there is a rule in nature 1 to 6. that means you have to marry or mate with somebody who is at least 6 times removed from you. but its up to you i cant condone or advocate what you propose

Just the blood may get skewed, even if it has been 30 years, it is not the 30 years the problem. Problem is that you ARE TOO CLOSELY RELATED, that is!
Give it a thought, ask a doctor.
Morally, I don't know... but I am sure it is NOT HEALTHY, okay?????

What's moral and immoral is up to the individual to determine. There are community morals but they are just a collective opinion of a specific issue that the individual can accept or reject.

I think it's against the family law..you can't marry your relatives..

**One marriage impediment is called consaguity which means marriage between persons descending one from the other(direct line) is never allowed. In the collateral line, marriage between brother and sister is never allowed
