Opportuntiy for legal residents, yes. If you are illegal then your life is one of constant fear and second-class status.
The better educated you are the easier it is to get into the US. PhD? Easy. Master's? A bit of work finding something. BS? Depends upon your major. (Nursing: easy, Philosophy: back of the line.) Less than a 4-year degree? Don't hold your breath.
Make sure you sign up for the Green Card lottery every year. Don't PAY anyone to do it for you. Just go directly to the official web site and apply yourself!

Yes the US is a land of opportunities. Unfortunately, for you and for us citizens, those who want to hurt, kill, and harm Americans and Westerners have made it very hard to take advantage of those opportunities. In order to get a work permit here (depends on the country you are from), it is best for you to get a sponsor here. This person should be wealthy, highly educated, or otherwise connected for you to ensure sucessful imigration into the US. Other than that, you should be HIGHLY skilled or shighly educated befor you apply. The US is always looking for those with skills in jobs that are in high demand. Again, you should find sponsoprhsip. If you have wealth, then you might find it easier to get a visa intot he states, otherwise you may wish to try in the future, when I hope terrorism and illegal immigration hagvge declined.

In the U.S. I'm not sure if any specific state is "the best", but if you want a job here become a citizen or get a permit (I'm not sure how) but otherwise if you're an illegal you can be put in jail or kicked out. Plus it doesn't help the econemy if you come in illegally.

I'm afraid that America being a "Land of Opportunity" is, by now, a quaint 19th century phrase.

It all depends on where you're from...if you're educated then perhaps. If you're not, then you prpbably should stay where you are. You also don't specify what land you are from. Some are more liked than others.
