I would pressure your doc for another alternative. Do some research on your own and get a 2nd opinion if she doesn't come up with something that has been tested thoroughly. UTI's are usually very uncomfortable, but not usually life threatening. Drink a lot of cranberry juice in the meantime. Best of luck to you.

I went through the same thing recently. My doctor prescribed me a low dose of Nitroflourantoin? Something like that. I had no problems with my pregnancy while I was using it. Ask your doctor about that one. It helped me tons.

drink lots of water and cranberry juice (not the blends but the 100%)
Avoid orange, grapefruit juices. They are acidic and your urination will be more painful.
Get another opinion about the treatment

UTIs are very common during the whole pregnacy. you gotta flush your fluid out more by drinking more water and citric juices. e.g 100% orange juice. citric fluids will wash away the infection. if problem persists , consult your GP

You need to talk to your doctor about the safety of medications while being pregnant...people online can and probably will give you the wrong information.
