Interesting question. Well, from a scientific point of view it's always been said that whatever the mind can conceive will someday become reality. Now whether it's happened already, who can say? There is always those conspiracy theories that keep life interesting.

For me, I think like the scientists. One, we will some day calculate the correct formula for light speed and beyond and two, discover how to travel backward in time. Personally I doubt that we can travel into the future only because it hasn't happened yet. The past however is part of recorded time, thus recorded history.

When you refer to time travel I supose you mean to the past. This is theoriticaly possible but it needs to much energy despite the problem of the "time travel paradox" which means you cant go back and kill yourself or your mother because if you do you wouldnt live to do the travel at the first place.
Now as for travel to the future. This happens every time your body accelerates. If you run fast like maurice green, every time you go 0,0001sec to the future. After a flight with a F-16 you go 0,01sec to the future and if I put you in a spaceship that flights 200000km/sec after an hour for you, it would be about 180 years for us.

Time is merely a species of space. If we can travel through space, we can travel through time.

In fact, we are constantly time-traveling... Forward. The trick is navigating through time in other directions.

The ancients believed that four primal elements made up all things. Earth, Rain, Wind and Fire. These are solids (minerals), liquids (water), air (gases) and heat (fire or energy).

Water and ice, although displaying vastly different properties, are really the same element, water altered in appearance and form by cold, an absence of warmth.

Space and time are also the same thing, space curved by gravity. That curvature (or having to muddle through it) is what we experience as 'time.' Which is why astronauts in deep space do not experience time as we do here on Earth.

Eventually Man may learn to navigate through time. As of yet, I don't think it has happened except by accident. When it has happened, we don't know why. I don't think any government has accomplished time-travel, either.

Time and space travel are realities (read some Physics - general and special theories of relativity). Space travel is much in vogue and astronauts and aircrews (as also passengers) zip through time zones, not only in the world, but also in space. These are known scientific facts: time dilation and time contraction i.e., the elasticity of time (Hawking knows). But why poke noses into affairs of Government, unless one is, oneself a responsible Government officer, and assigned a specific task by the Government. After all Government is for the people and by the people. The common citizen cannot absolve himself or de-link himself/herself from Governmental responsibilities.

Theoreticaly, according to the Theory of Relativity, time travel to both past and present is possible under conditions that we do not fully understand or even know are possible. However there are numerous other points and counter points for and against the possibility of timetravel. It would be logical to assume that since there is no evidence of someone from the future visiting our time period, then time travel was never discovered.

Depending on my mindset, I do believe, then I don't believe. Perhaps one day man will travel through time, but technology has a habit of becoming a dangerous tool (ex. atomic theory ->nuclear missiles), so even if we eventually develop time travel, should we use it to better mankind or risk destroying ourselves? That's the question.

For a real good [ficticious] read on time travel check out "Sphere" or some of the Von Daniken books, like "Chariots of the Gods" who has whacked out ideas =S.

I believe that we already time travel without realizing it. I believe that we can traverse time through astral projection. I have read cases about it in many places. You can also travel through time in your dreams. (Most people don't think of that of an alternate dimension or plane, but I am of the belief that it is.) Here are some personal accounts of time travel through astral travel:

Also, the reason why we would not have met anyone from the future utilizing this technique is because our astral bodies are not (normally) visible to us. Astral bodies are pure energy - spirit, so we can't see them, but they see us. I would also suspect it is harder to influence the sequence of events in this way. It takes some learning to be able to affect physical objects when in the astral form...

Blessings and Light!

i'm a big believer in time travel, and it is theoretically possible. However the amout of power and the speeds you would have to acheie to make it actually happen couldnt be produced or survived. At least not with current technology. Google "time travel" and see where it leads you.

No, I think time travel is a crock.

My reasoning is that time does not exist. Time is simply a way that we have decided to try to measure our lives and the world around us.

Einstein said that if you were to travel faster than the speed of light, 186,000 miles per second, you would go back in time. However, he also said that it is impossible to go faster than the speed of light.

I disagree, obviously, that you would go back in time, but I do agree that it is not possible to travel faster than light.

And no, our governments can't even balance a budget. If they had time travel available, we obviously wouldn't have the problems we do. A single government, with that option available would be like Michael J. Fox in "Back to the Future"- trying to give himself a copy of the sports event almanac.

time travel is a theoretical possibility at best. The sheer amount of energy needed to possibly achieve it is not within our capability to produce. not to mention the fact that dealing with all of the possible paradoxes time travel could create make time travel nothing more than a good thought exercise
