In general, yes.... Most of the pop artistes are using a lot of superficial lyrics and more or less "cookie mold" type songs. But then again, the ones that are here to stay...well, they are the ones whose sound is fresh, style is daring and image enticing.

Madonna... she is like 400 years old but yet still appeals to a lot of people... she's been in the industry i believe since the 80s.. where her critics say she can't sing. I think she out-famed and out lasted her peers... closest to her atthe time were Whitney and Mariah, they too are daring enough to try new stuff and sounds.

Another great example is Tina, Pop grandma.... that has GOT to be the cream of the crop!

Superficial artistes with superficial lyrics/music will get superficial appreciation and superficial time of fame....

Its the unique ones that are here to stay. :)

I think they are selling the image and not the talent these days.
