I guess that you are talking about two dial-up modems
I will give you an example of this situation
A dial modem is and works the same as a phone, except for the fact that modems send and recive data and phones send/recieve sound waves
Anyway, considering this, you cannot have 2 phones on they same line and have them working at the same time on different frequencies or lines without having a split line
So to have 2 modems you will need to have a split line installed or use the one modem for the same computer by setting up a lan connection
Otherwise it is impossible to set up 2 at once on the same line...one of them will dial in and the other will be engaged on that line and wont be able to get through
Goodluck!!

yes! before we use to have 2 modem connected in one PC and one Phone line. one is used for the internet connection and the other one is to remote a PC from a far location using phone line.
i cant remember the whole thing but it must be the modem is connected to another modem.
that's all i can remember.

Not if you need both to connect at the same time, as once one is connected then the other would not be able to connect. You may be better off getting broadband and a wireless router set up

You're better off on broadband. You don't need two modems. You can use ethernet cabling and a router, or go wireless with an adaptor/pc card and router.

Yes you can connect.
But make sure you connect one modem from the wall jack which is present downstairs.
And the other phone wall jack is present upstairs to connect the second modem.
Hope I am not confusing you :-)
