most of them young men and women.

Don't you think it creepy that someone asking for help here could get up from their PC walk accross to the bathroom, reach into the cabinet and slice their wrists.
Their chalk-white body found days later by a curious relative.

Scares me, I almost want to have a go at them for putting so much pressure on strangers.
But still, everyone needs help.

i think you cant hold people here responsible cos those people might have done it anyway with or without asking for help here. I have thought about this before though, and I always try to take cries for help seriously. even though this is an annonomous Q asking station, I think as a human being we all are a bit responsible for offering sincere help (or none at all...but being rude / stupid in response is in my opininon not acceptable)

The ones I would like to have a go at are the people who think it's funny to say, so do it, or some thing along those lines. It may or may not have an effect on the person behind the computer but it's disgusting.
If you feel that it makes you responsible when you answer those questions then don't. I can understand how you would feel that way. I think that the best I can offer that person is my advice and they are free to take it or not. Ultimately they make the choice to live or die and I won't feel responsible if they don't listen to me because I feel everyone is responsible for their own actions.

There has even been people in chat rooms actually ending their lives, and saying what they are doing as they do it !!! (not related in any way to Yahoo chat rooms though).

But yes, it could happen here, or anywhere on the internet, if that is their last point of contact.

Some would say that people that do such acts are selfish, as they end their own misery, but obviously everyone else (their friends/relatives) have to deal with the situation after they have gone....

.....this is real life, sad but true.

I think everybody is self destructive by varying degrees. Some slice their wrists or overdose, others smoke or take unnecessary risks. Have you ever known somebody who doesn't have any risky habits or activities in their lives? Even recluses and germaphobes over compensate for their fears to the point of self destruction.

Sorry, can't help it. I'm from India. Here, the farmers r commiting suicide. Just imagine. Those who r providing food for the nation r commiting suicide. The irony.
