Yes that is wonderful. Every baby is different. Some babies don't try to walk until 12+ Months. If you would like to encourage the baby to crawl give him lots of "tummy time". Just spread a thin blanket out on the floor and place the baby on his tummy and let him do his thing.

While it is very normal for a 6 month old to hold himself up and walk, it is highly recommended that you encourage him to crawl and discourage him to walk until he has had a few months of crawling. The crawling action is the only action which strengthens certain shoulder muscles and is very important to the child's development in that area. Children who skip the crawling stage are known to have weak upper arms and shoulder muscles as well as posure problems when they are older.

I know that this might not have been what you want to hear, but you should really look into it. All the best!

Don't worry, my son is 4 months and does the same. He's been using a walker since 2 1/2 months...yes, he's a big baby. His feet could reach the floor at two months. Anyway, I figure some babies actually learn to walk before they learn to crawl. Encourage your child's growth and try not to put limitations on their development, you'll be amazed at what they can do. My son has spoken his first word, repeated it and knows what it means. God Bless!

My son is 7 months old and does the same thing. He doesnt crawl yet but he will roll around the floor to get to where he want's to go. It is so funny to watch him. He is starting to sit up by himself and he is also pushing up on his legs a little bit when he is on the floor like he wants to crawl but just dont know how yet. He will get it soon i'm sure, as will your baby.

i do not want to say yes or no to your question cos each baby is different. i have read in a child psychology and developmental book that it is very important that they crawl.

crawling stimulates the growth of neuro-transmitters between the 2 halves of the brain. neuro-transmitters allow you to use both sides of your brain together.

the more of these transmitters that you have the better the 2 halves work together. when you reach early childhood the brain will discard the extra transmitters that it does not need. however, if there are not enough transmitters the body will not be able to make more during childhood.

if he wants to crawl then i would say you should let him.
good luck!

yes that is fine. some babies skip crawling and go straight to walking. my daughter is 6 months old and she walks in her walker but she doesn't even try to crawl no matter how much tummy time i give her. but to encourage her to crawl give her lots of tummy time.

pl don't make him walk. his bones r not yet ready to carry his body weight. if u make him walk by force ( that is what you r doing by holding his hand & making him walk ) his leg bones might bend. let him crawl. he will try to stand by himself when his bones are ready to hold his weight.pl don't be in a hurry to make him walk. crawling is good for his shoulder muscles.
