It is not victory for either side. It is the UN stepping in and trying to settle the situation.

why don't we admit that the " all mighty invincible Israeli army " has lost his battle against Hezbollah ???
Is it shame ? Is it pride ? Is it combination of both ???
why don't we be more factual :
- Israel's mission was to free the 2 kidnapped soldiers - at the beginning - before changing the plan and start running after Hezbollah Gorilas, and their leader Mr. Nasrallah......
MISSION FAILED !
- Israel bombarded and destroyed the southern part of Beyrout, killing hundreds of innocent civilians, hoping with such a move to push the Lebanese people, to stand against Hezbollah..... MISSION FAILED also !!
- The " INVINCIBLE " army lost over 200 Soldiers,150 Tanks, even 2 Navy Battle-Ships, while Hezbollah - which is not an organizad army - lost almost 300 men, and not even Quarter of their supply of missiles.......I call that a " SUCCESSFULL MISSION " for Hezbollah .....wouldn't you ??
- when the world realized what is going on, and noticed the unexcusable agression of Israel on Lebanon, felt that Hezbollah was up against enemy soldiers - not civilians - and their missiles is fired in retaliation of the Israeli bombardment. Thus, there was " Thumbs - up " for Hezbollah through out the civilized world, .......hence : MISSION SUCCEEDED !!!

Mr. Olmert wants to continue the fight until the last breath to protect his image (although it is not his best interest to do that) but I think it is high time he admits his defeat !!

It's not a victory for anyone. Victory is succeeding in accomplishing the goals. Israel's goal in the conflict was to destroy hezbollah and recover 2 soldiers. Mission Failed.

Hezbollah's goal was to secure the release of lebanese prisoners held in israeli prisons. Mission Failed.

It could be considered a draw for hezbollah, and a loss for israel, especially since israel's "invincible" army couldn't beat 5000 guerilla fighters in a month of fighting. The idea that the IDF is invincible has been dispelled. They've also lost a lot of support around the world for all of the civilian deaths and accidental bombing of cleared convoys.

Nasrallah, however, could claim victory, since his popularity has soared. It will be interesting to see how events unfold, and whether the cease-fire will last.

It's really hard to say. The fact that Israel bombed up Lebanon....that might not go over well for hezbollah. Some Lebanese might consider Hezbollah responsible for the ruin of their country since their actions triggered the bombings.

They will claim it is, but if the Lebanese army gets in quickly enough and takes over the territory the Israelis have wrested from Hezbollah, it won't be. And then, of course Hezbollah will be fighting both the Israelis and Lebanese.

Seems like it 'cos they're hiding behind the Lebanese people and the UN resolution... Cowards. They started it all but now they want sympathy after being attacked.
