London is one of the greatest cities on earth. I don't come from there, but have learned to love it over the years, mostly helped by 4 years spent there as a student. If you spend a bit of time getting to know the place, you'll realise that it has something to offer everyone, there's always something different to do and the place literally never sleeps. For me, the enormously varied history, dating back to before the Roman Invasion, is the most fascinating part. However the cultural life is also incredible. The old saying of Samuel Pepys (I think it was him anyway! It might have been Samuel Johnson!) of "a man who is tired of London is tired of life" still holds true today. It is one of the worlds 3 incredible and stylish cities - London, Paris, New York.

Yes, it is.

I spent Saturday there. It is definitely NOT overpriced if you know where to go. At lunch times, for example, you can get a good meal for under £10 per person.
I went to Covent Garden where the street entertainers were as good as they have always been and the atmosphere is stupendous.
Public transport is also cheap if you use an Oyster card.

And if you base London on all the sites, they are still there and as good to look at as they were in the past.

NO! London is just as rubbish as the next city. Full of arrogant twits who don't have a friendly bone in their bodies. I'm glad I don't live there. It's over priced, and not a very nice place. *huff*

Depends what you mean by great, if you mean being able to have innumerable freedoms in a legal framework, no we lost that in1997. If you mean centre of world power, no we lost that in 1945. If you mean great place to enjoy oneself in relative freedom, no we lost that in 2006. So no, it isn't a great city anymore, all thanks to Bush, Bliar and the Neo-conservative Big Brother attitude.
