I want to download or watch TV shows from channels that are available on digital cable; How can I watch them on my computer? Some digital channels aren’t available in my area, and others I don't get, like HBO, so, is there a way to watch them over the Internet?

It takes a TV tuner card to watch TV on your computer. Decoding digital cable on your computer requires even more hardware. I haven't even found a web page that talks about how to do that. Most of them only talk about over the air HDTV.

On the other hand, it is quite easy to download popular TV shows after they have been shown. You can find them on the Usenet news group alt.binaries.multimedia. Or search for bit torrent on google and learn how to download them that way.

You will need the XviD codec in order to watch them once they are downloaded. Don't even attempt it if you have dialup. The files are too large for dialup.

Depending on the show, you can find eps on p2p software like Bearshare, Limewire, or SoulSeek. Otherwise, you can pay and download shows on iTunes also. Lastly, try YouTube and see what you can get.
