It all has to do with how you are trying to swim. If you are just swimming laps then 3 or 4 should suffice, but with sprinting it is however many you are comfortable with. I've known people to slow down considerably because they tried for a 6 beat kick (6 kicks per stroke) when they had always swum with a 4 beat before.

It depends on your build I think. I am somewhat muscular so I sometimes find myself kicking only to keep my legs buoyant. It is a bad habit that I'm trying to fix. I have heard that women kick more and rely more on kicking then men do. The reason is that women are naturally stronger in their legs then their upper bodies. Men are normally the opposite.

There isn't a praticular number of kicks per stroke. You just keep kicking. Kicking and moving your arms keep you moving.

3 fast kicks per armstroke. That is how I teach the kids that I coach at the pool. Sometimes you have to find your own rythm but its around 3

There is no recommened time. In free style its constant movement. You rotate your hips while your kicking at the same time. There is no recommened kicks. Everyone is different and there just is no possible one. You are continuously kicking.

And thats that

It doesnt matter how many kicks you do
Just kick a steady kick
it doesnt have to be fast
unless you want to swim fast
the faster you want to swim the faster you want to kick

3 or 4 if you're fast and going a short distance (50 meters perhaps)...long distances should be like 2 or 3 because you wanna save your energy.
