I am 21 weeks along in my first pregnancy and had a sonogram done 3 days ago. I was told that my baby had a cyst in her head, but that 99.9 % of the time these types of cyst resolve on their own by 24 weeks. I am a healthy 23 year old woman, I've been taking my prenatals and eating as healthly as I can. Everything else was normal except for the cyst. However, I am scared out of my mind and I was just curious as to whether anyone has heard of this or has been through this and how did it work out. I welcome your responses and web addresses to sites with additional info. This baby means so much to me and I would appreciate anything POSITIVE that anyone can offer. Thank you.

my 1st son had several cysts on his head while I was pregnant with him and they told me that they would more than likely go away, but like you I worried anyways and you know what they were right. By the time I was 30 weeks pregnant the cysts were completely cleared up and he was perfectly fine. So honestly you shouldn't worry yourself about this. They WILL go away. I only made myself sick with worry for no reason. Good luck and let us know the outcome. Even though I know you'll tell us they went away. :-)

It is not a serious thing. I had my baby with a cyst and as she grew older the cyst disappeared. Apart from cosmetic reasons, It doesn't hurt at all. It is made up of follicles in oily-like base ( things that are found in hair). I wish you the best and hope to hear the good news soon.
Good luck.

Absolutely nothing...I had the same thing in all 4 of my preganancies..they are a natural product of pregnancy..they will eventually go away, the doctor should order more sonograms throughout your pregnancy to monitor this, only if they don't go away will it become a problem..It is your doctors responsibility, as he/she works For you, to explain all aspects and posibilities of what can occur during a pregnancy, and if they unable to do so, get one that can. All my babies are just perfect....

while i've never heeard of such, it may just be something very common, and nothing to worry about. if the dr said it normally goes away after 25 wks, you may want to have another sono at 26 or 27 wks to be sure, or sonner if your dr said to. hope you have a heathy bouncer, and many more.

You should ask the doctor what it means since they are the ones who told you about it. Good luck.
