How long should i wait to make sure that the birth control will work before i have sex.

You should discuss this with the Doctor/agency that prescribed the birth control.

The first month that you take birth control pills, you are supposed to also use condoms b/c you could still get pregnant. If you take the pills as directed (every day), then after a month you can have sex without getting pregnant. You are still at risk for STD's though, so if you are having sex with more than one person, you should still use a latex condom with spermicide to prevent any venereal disease.

the packet should tell you but wait at least a month and make SURE you take it EVERY day without fail or it may not work. Use a condom too - not only for birth control, but to protect yourself from disease. The pill doesnt stop you catching clamydia!!!

Read the directions that came with your birth control pills. For mine, it's a week.

Ortho TriCyclen, or another common oral contraceptive? If so, then be sure to double check the instructions. I believe you start taking them the Sunday after you start your period, and then you should wait (for unprotected sex) until at least the start of your next period.

i have a question y r u girls so worried about sex? and i am afraid to tell u but the pill doesnt protect against std's and they r not 100% accurate in preventing pregnancy

Well, the best u can do is consult ur doc. coz it all depends with what u are using.... as for me, i got a jab n i had to wait for 24 hours.

If you are on the pill...you need to wait onem period cycle before it is working...Usw a condom in that first month

try when you get married and not before then. EVER HEARD OF AIDS? Did your lover have an Aids test and show you the result? Do you know whom they've been with?
