I do not think so! But if so it may have been brought to discussion by some minor nation!
But, why English when it is probably just the 3rd most widely spoken language:
Chinese (mandarin) (937,132,000)
Spanish (332,000,000)
English (322,000,000)
And even in second languages it is second after French!
So honestly I think it would be nice but the same thing happens with world peace! 99% of the world would like world peace but ... we do not live in an ideal world!

This would cause too many problems. The present system of interpretation is the best.
The word is learned, not "learnt". So if you are suggesting English, you better master it first. Practically the whole world can speak English, besides their native tongue. Too bad that most Americans can only speak English.

I DON'T THINK SO???
I do know that many scientists have tried to get all scientists interested in a language called ESPERANTO.
It resembles Spanish in some ways but it is more basic and very straight forward. It is based on the original latin so it would be fairly easy for French, Spanish and Italian speakers to pick up. many countries have French as a second language so that would inclulde them

No, it wouldn't... English is one of the most semiotically impoverished language in the world. I depise it.
