If the person or people that I'm researching was in the Indian Removal of the 1800s, where exactly do I look to find out where they came from?
I know the area of states, but they have all of these lists that Indian Affairs put together, and I don't know where to look?
What should I do?
Contact the closest Indian Reservation Office and hope that they can tell me what I need to do?

I would start with the tribe if it still exists. Their council may be able to help.
