Mathematical truths are a form of logic. They are part of the rules by which our universe operates; they are not the universe itself, though, thus their existence requires no cause.
Besides, if 2x2 equaled something other than 4, we'd be living in one F***'ed-up universe!

use pemdas (order of operations), first you do the multiplication that's 2x2 that's 4, then you definitely do 4+4=8 so definite you're lots smarter than all those different people who theory it replaced into 6. that's 8

bcuz
1=1 (duh)
adding 1 to both sides,
1+1=2 ( becuz 2=1+1)
multiplying both sides by 2,
2(1+1)=2x2
2+2=2x2
4=2x2
therefore
2x2=4

Because two discrete magnitudes taken two times will always equal four discrete magnitudes.
This, I think, is an example of something that is too obvious to be proven in a proof. Also, it is too specific to properly do a proof of.
I'm not trying to insult your question, I'm just saying what I think.

Because the multiplication sign means that you add the number on the left to itself however much the right number says. i.e. 7X3=21 Because 7 added to itself 3 times is 21. Glad I could help! =)
