Towards the end of last years high school season and over the summer on my summer ball team I was on a MAJOR slump, and I have no idea what is wrong, as far as I can tell I'm not doing anything different. So, does anyone have any good drills that I can do during the preseason? Thanks in advance.

Slumps can be caused by lots of things and most of the time it isn't talent...Sometimes it's even just bad luck, but whatever the cause, I would just try to see as many pitches as possible in the off season... spend alot of time in the cage, do soft toss, hit off a tee, and have someone who knows what they're doing watch you... there may just be a mechanical "hitch" in your swing...Good Luck

baseball is about 80 percent mental....most slumps are because you are going up to the plate with something wrong in your head....maybe you're thinking about striking out, or you are changing your mechanics. changing mechanics is one of the worst things you can do during the season. as far as drills go, about half of your swing power comes from your legs....so do leg workout about 3 times a week. you should do some running on non lifting days as well. maybe one day, run a few miles, then another day do wind sprints. strengthening your legs will strengthen your swing

U should have someone video tape u at bat. Look at the video with your coach if he is a good hitting instructor. It could b something simple like your knee cave, not staying on top of the ball, opening up to soon. If u leave in NJ I could suggest a good hitting school, were my son went. In four years of HS ball, struck out only 12 times.

its all in your head. its not your skill. something dropped your comfidence and put you in that slum, thats what messing your game up. i played football and ran track and when i was having problems with my relationship or grades it would be all in my head and i didnt realize i could concentrate till all my problems went away or i seriously got them off my mind.
