I don't know of any "tricks". It takes willpower and a strong network of supporters.
I was on a Duragesic pain patch for three years, and although I was under a Dr's care, and the use was supervised, I was still addicted. These patches are 80 times more powerful than Morphine, so it was basically legalized heroin. I went cold turkey last November, and suffered horrible withdrawal. It took three months before I was completely over the symptoms, and I still have some cravings.
The good news... you'll feel a hell of a lot better when you get off whatever crap you are on.

Depends on what kind of drugs, but usually, completely stopping the use of drugs could be even more dangerous than the actual effects of the drug itself!
Rehab programs usually entail a slow reduction of the drug intake, a sort of 'weaning' process that slowly takes the edge of drug 'want'.
Replacing drugs with something else is also a good way. I pwersonally know someone who got off heroin through sex therapy. Luckily he had an unsderstanding wife who led him to bed every time he felt the urge for a needle.
If we all could be so lucky!
But as with Cigarettes and chewing gum, give yourself an alternative, something you really like, something that really makes you happy (but not something dangerous, please).
Truth is. You can overcome anything... but do you truly want to?
If you really do, its a cinch.
I know... I used to be there myself.

Stop spewing bullshit.
"Try God....works better than anything else."
Stop spewing religious bullshit. Religion doesn't stop withdrawal, sorry.
Sorry, don't have any "tricks". However, a good place to ask/lurk around would be here: http://www.drugs-forum.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=56
