If you know what you are looking for in the night sky, you can see other galaxies with a pair of high powered binocs! Pic a night thats clear, go far out in the country with your telescope or binocs, far away from any lights, no moon in the sky! You will be amazed! The milky way galaxy you live in has an estimated 200 billion suns! Scientists estimate that there are as many galaxies in the universe as there are grains of sand on all the beaches of the world!

I don't think that the scientists are making up false stories. It makes sense. Also what would make us so special to be the only galaxy/ universe. I also believe that somewhere way out there, on distant planets their is life. Isn't that a crazy thought?

these are no false stories,, they are compiled from observations,, they estimate 100 Billion galaxies in our Universe (thats Billion with a B) and about 50 Billion suns in the average Galaxie,, of which our Milky Way is one.

Well, there are definitely other galaxies IN the universe. About 200-billion or so. Other universes? Possible, but absolutely no evidence yet that such exist.

Go read the book "In search of Schrodingers Cat"- its a paperback, written back in the 1980's and you should be able to get a cheap copy for like 5 bucks ok?

Our galaxy, known as the Milky Way, is one of many galaxies. The late and great Carl Sagan said so.

Astronomy is a great field where funding (R & D) is enormous.
and the science like Physics is leaning towards the matter and anti-matter, black-holes and other galaxies.

I think that there is a great strides remaining in the search for the life and another 20 years would be crucial in that direction.

Nobody can know for sure yet, but the scientists are just telling us the results/hypotheses from their studies. There's gotta be more galaxies, this universe is infinate! =)

There are billions of galaxy, and trillions of planets for all we know.

Why would scientists make false stories? even amateurs witha good telescope can see other galaxies.

They exist.
