for creating multimedia presentations you will need:
1. the multimedia presentation
2. the computer on which to run
3. optional: a projector [3m, hp, epson] and a white wall / projector`s screen
4. optional: a sound system [includes microphone, oprional wireless]
5. a pointing device [laser or trackball mouse]
1. the presentation can be made in microsoft powerpoint or in any software you like [basic: open office powerpoint, matchware mediator // advanced: adoble [ex-macromedia] flash // expert: 3dstudio max, gmax etc]
2. you need a computer to run it: dektop computer or laptop [if you made the presentation in a specific software that does not build executables when exporting / saving the presentation, you will need that software installed]
3. if you do not wish that everybody to break their necks and eyes in your lcd / crt monitor, then use a projector which has an d-sub input [that is display-signal cable] and connect it instead of your monitor. have it projecting on a white wall or a projector-panel. dimm the lights or cover the windows of that room
4. you might also nned a sound system if your presentation has sounds / musig or if you want to amplify your voice. a 50 wat rms system would be wonderfull for a 1-square-kilometer hall [30meters x 35 meters]. you could use a basic 2, 2.1, 4, 4.1, 5.1 computer audio system and you could also use a microphone. there are also wireless ones.
5. pointing device: a laser pen or a long stick :)) with which to show the audience what you are talking about. i mean charts, formulas etc. you might also find usefull a wireless computer pointing device which will controll your mouse.
or you could just have it yourway.

Your best bet would be to use Microsoft PowerPoint. although, I don't know what else you need other than a computer - I've never been good with hardware.
