My best mate is a great guy really ruff and tumble
he is getting to be grossly over weight , Ive asked to the gym I go to but he says he,s not intrested in women so there is no one he needs to impress at 43 I think and have told him that with his love of cigaretes and the bar life hes looking a heart attack in the face but he wont do a damb thing . Hes my best mate ,has been for years and I dont want to be saying a blessing over his body. in the near future .......... can you help ?

ultimately, only your friend can help himself. if he doesn't want to change his unhealthy lifestyle, you can't do anything about it so the best thing that you can do is to talk to him some more to convince him that you have his best interest at heart. he is lucky to have you as his friend. you are a good person. cheers!

Sounds like he could be depressed and/or have physical problems.

Could it be the naughty bits have quit working? Could he be gay and not want to deal with it? Has he had a rough time lately?

You could just tell him why you are worried and see what he says. He is an adult, though, so all you can do is inquire and offer your support.

Maybe you could set an example by having your avatar quit smoking =]

Hope he comes around and starts to love life again, soon.

damn,i didn't want to be the first to answer...cause i'm not sure.But you question is something i cannot look away from.I can tell you that,just let him know you care about his health and not his ability to get layed.If it were my friend i'd drag them with me to the Dr.'s.This is real tuff.My ma's overweight too.I'd drag her all over the place with me.Walking.Shoping.To the beach. She moved so now i can't help her and she's back in front of the T.V. and eating sweet bread! -Oh!get him a dog!! Hope something works

What about an intervention? Hearing it from his family and close friends might wake him up.
