With so much corruption at a global level, should there be harsher penalties eg life imprisonment, bearing in mind that many countries remain poor as a direct result of the top few scamming the entire country.

Corrupt politicians, or any corrupt people should be made to pay back the amount of money gained by corrupt means, any profits made on any dealings made with corrupt money, and a prison sentence and possibly a stiff penalty on top of that. No ifs or buts. It's no use having a light prison sentence when the person knows he's got a fat bank account to go back to when he's out. Knowing there's no profit at the end of it's got to be an effective deterrent.

Of course, an independent audit should be carried out to estimate how much money is involved.

It could be argued that crimes against the nation are acts of treason. Treason still carries the death penalty. I am not advocating hanging but certainly the punishment should reflect the severity of the crime and the amount of damage that is done.

If that will happen and all who commited it are convicted a few will be left or the judges themselves will punish themselves. What we need now is better global citizens. Hahahah:) Your'e citizes of a heavenly kingdom, the Kingdom of God. Expect hardship because as Christians we should follow Him to Calvary. We're meant to suffer here.

It is treason. Treason has always carried capitol punishment in every country I can think of right now.

The problem is people confuse their government for their country.

We are our country. Our government is our servant.

George Washington said it best.

Government is a dangerous servant and a terrible master.

forget penalties and fine they earn so much in curruption so paying fines are nothing to them.if u really want curruption to disappear then they should be jailed at least for 10 years .and their currupt assets should be seiged by govt.even if 25% currupt get punishment others will learn their lesson.in india it is not even 2%.curruption is worst then terrorism and curruption kills(cold blooded murders ) more people then terrorist do .
