My Sisters scalp is extremely dry. She can actually pick the dry skin off.
She has been to the doctors and he gave her shampoo and said she had a fungal infection.
She has been using the shampoo but it hasn't had much effect.
I suggested she put olive oil on her scalp and leave it overnight, or go back to the doctor and tell him the shampoo doesn't work.
What do you think?

Let me just add that she has been using the shampoo for about 6 months. It hasn't helped at all.

What about Nizoral. That is a pretty good shampoo for dandruff and scalp conditions like fungal infections. I think it is used for psoriasis. You have to leave it on your head for like 3-5 minutes for it to gain any before washing it off. If the PH of the area is altered, it is difficult for the fungus to live. That is what the shampoo is trying to do is alter the PH of the scalp area. It will take time depending on the severity of the condition. Having said this I think it is supposed to take roughly 2-4 weeks to clear up.
The dermatologist is your best bet though, as they are experts in this area and maybe able to perscribe something more heavy duty to clear up the problem.

I had similar experiences a number of years ago but possibly not to the same extent. I discussed scalp dryness with a hairdresser who advised that I may benefit from a shampoo with a lower/neutral Ph level. Apparently higher Ph levels in various high street branded shampoos can lead to scalp dryness in susceptible people.
I'm not normally one to recommend products on the fly but I will say that the Daily Treatment Shampoo (formerly Biojoba Treatment Shampoo) from Joico worked wonders. I have continued to use this shampoo for the last 5 years, although I do alternate it with other products. The level of dryness reduced almost immediately and the problem was eradicated within a matter of weeks. This shampoo is available from Saloons who stock the Joico range.

If you're sister has a significant problem I would still suggest that another medical opinion be sought and the problem could be symptomatic of another problem - such as the original fungal diagnosis.
* Note that non of the above constitutes official medical advice :-)

I think she should go back to her Gp's,
Ask your sister if she scratches her head when she shampoos it, if she does this can cause the dry skin to increase. She needs to massage the shampoo in using the tips of her fingers only and rinse it thoroughly.Try to use a deep conditioner such as a hot oil one. I know it sounds silly but drink plenty of water aswell cos if she is dehydrated it wont help the dry scalp..

Penny stocks are loosely categorized companies with share prices of below $5 and with market caps of under $200 million. They are sometimes referred to as "the slot machines of the equity market" because of the money involved. There may be a good place for penny stocks in the portfolio of an experienced, advanced investor, however, if you follow this guide you will learn the most efficient strategies https://tr.im/fb19f

Sounds like it might be a fungus problem or a very serious dry scalp problem. I'd take her back to the doctors to get the right medicine.

The olive oil acts as a moisturiser.
Has she tried T-Gel yet. Very good for scalp conditions.

Dry scalp is caused by Psoriasis, Dermatitis.
I don't think that a fungus can cause dry scalp.
Fungus loves humidity and oil.
You need to talk to your doctor again.

I've never had a dry scalp problem as severe as your describing..but for me when I start to get that problem I notice when I start exercising regularly it goes away. I don't know if it'll work for you, but try it.
