I've done 2 home tests - 1 was negative, the other had a faint 2nd line. Went to my doctor today, she only did another urine test, it was negative. I have been a bit queasy the last couple of days, have had the sorest boobs imaginable, and my period is 2 1/2 weeks late.
Should I be insisting on a blood test? What should I do?

Oh my goodness, I had this exact same thing happen to me the second time I was pregnant! I knew I was pregnant b/c of the way that I felt! I took a test at home and it came up with this very faint second line. It wasn't even an entire line...it was just the edges of it and it didn't connect in the middle. So I went to the health department and had a test done. The test came back negative.
The nurse told me then that the home tests on the market today (like First Response) are more sensitive even than those in the doctor's office. She also said that hcg is ONLY present in your blood stream when you are pregnant (unless you are taking something), and the ONLY thing that'll register on a pregnancy test is hcg. So if you had anything showing on it, even if it was very very light, then you are definetly pregnant.
I went back for two weeks before I got a positive test at the health clinic!! So, if you are not putting anything into your body, like hormone pills, that could make your body produce hcg, then you are pregnant!

A blood test will give you the answer that you are looking for. IF you are pregnant then you will have a hormone called hCG. It is easily detected in the blood test but sometimes faint in urine early in pregnancy. If you wait a week then the urine test will give you a true answer. It is pretty rare to have a false positive though. If you take the urine test first thing in the morning it may be more accurate too. The urine in your bladder all night is more potent. I hope what ever answer you want is the one you get.

sometimes the results of the test are borderline and the doctor rules it negative. You should take the urine test again to check it. I fyou are not satisfies with a urine test, insist on a blood sample, but you may have the same problem again.
PS to be useful in confirmation, the second urine test has to be done 24 hours after the first, so you may have to take 2. Good luck!

Both of my pregnancies didn't show with the home tests, the only way was with a blood test. From the sounds of it your pregnant. I would go back to the doctor and say you want to have a blood test to be sure. They are 100% positive.

Sure sounds like pregnancy to me! I would suggest buying a different brand of pregnancy testing kit and see what it says. Although the instructions sometimes say that urine anytime of the day is okay, do a first-morning urine specimen.
You might call your doctor's office and tell them of your concerns, and see if they have any other suggestions for tests. You could call Planned Parenthood to see if they have other tests available.
Ultimately, if you are pregnant, even if no pregnancy test in the world will go positive on it, it still is happening. So if this is what you want, it sounds like congratulations are in order!

The stress could be causing all of the above. Wait another week (one week won't matter). Do another test, or two, or three. If still unsure, go back to the Doctor and ask for a blood test.

You should go back for a blood test, cause if your not preg it could be something else. You could also be preg cause if you just conceived then the urine tests might be neg until a later time when the hormones show up in your urine.

Yes, do a blood test just to be sure. Either that or wait another week and do another urine test.

The tests are accurate. If you have started your period in another week go back to the doctor.

yes get a blood test, urine tests can come back negative mine did and i had a blood test and i was pregnant
