There is something in the baby shots that they give to your children but I do not remeber what it is called. Some doctors will offer shots without this thing that causes it but you have to ask your doctor. If you have a child the next time you go just mention shots and autism Now just becuase they are getting the shot with it does not necesarily mean that they will get autism. The child must first carry the gene and get the shots that have it.

No one knows for sure. Some have said that there is a genetic component, but others disagree. There is evidence for both genetic and environmental causes.
If you have any inkling that your child might be autistic, get a doctor to diagnose him/her and get intervention help as soon as possible. There are amazing therapies out there that can really help autistic children learn to reach out and interact meaningfully with the world around them. I worked with autistic children under the training of a major psychologist out of UCLA and it was amazing what strides even severlay autistic children could make even within a year or two of therapy!

Both parents carry a recessive gene that give their child either a 1 in 8 or 1 in 4 chance of having autism. (I know that's kind of a big difference, lol, but I can't remember the exact stat.)

I heard it has to do with development. Brain not receiving signals properly. That's why they can excel in some activities and tasks like Music or Math. One of my daughters is autistic.

There really isn't any known reason for autism.
