If I see two men holding hands, I assume they are gay, and I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm right because men don't hold hands otherwise. But remember, there was a time when it wasn't considered manly to cook, clean the house, iron, look after kids, etc. and women's roles were much more sharply defined too (women couldn't vote and weren't supposed to work outside of the home, for example). Society hasn't become hung up on gender roles, it is becoming less so. Men talk with each other about things they would never have dreamed of discussing fifty years ago, but change is gradual. Who knows? Maybe one day straight men will hold hands and dance with each other in the bars...I'm just not sure if I'll see it in my lifetime.

They were most likely homosexual. I usually just see it and it doesn't bother me...we all should be happy. But I am usually irritated by homosexuals that are being pushy about being homosexual. It doesn't bother me that they are homosexual or that heterosexuals are heterosexuals; but when anyone is being too touchy feely I am bothered. I go to the store with my hubby and we may hold hands for a little while or I may rub his back affectionately for a second and there is nothing wrong with that. Recently I was grocery shopping and there were two woman holding hands and I just thought oh ok that's fine but I was looking at some foods and they were talking about what to buy and the more masculine of the couple headed towards whatever she wanted to grab and pretty much drug her partner across the isle like they were glued together at the hand...it just seemed like she was being a little insane about being homosexual and wanting to make a big deal of it. Honestly, I could care less about what people do behind closed doors but it is irritating when they want to make it known so badly that they are just acting stupid.
But two men just holding hands really isn't a big deal...they are "here and queer" what's the big deal?

in western countries, men holding hands is so taboo, that only the power of gay love would make you do that. the rules are different for women, where hand-holding is very feminine and friendship-oriented. Why? cuz we live in a hetrosexist world, and have to live life through the lens of the hetrosexual male. Guys holding hands makes them squirm. But women being affectionate is almost arousing to them, so thems the rules.
strangely if youve been to some very conservative countries, like islamic or hindu countries, guys holding hands has nothing to do with being gay (they'd be attacked in these countries) ... its just a socially acceptable expression of friendship.

I think in this country people think that all men should act as manly as they can. And holding hands is way out of this catergory. People like to label other people because it's easy. They don't want to think of the complexity of other people and how one label doesn't fit everyone. So they will call every man that holds another man's hand "gay". that's what I hate about this country and people in general. No one should be labeled. =(

My first thought is they are gay, only because were I live men do not hold hands for any reason unless they are shaking hands. I know it is sad but one can not help were you are raised or how until you are old enough to change it.

I think it's in Arabia where it is common to see men holding hands with casual friends. It's a cultural thing anyway. In this culture, if I see any two people holding hands, I think they are lucky to have some one who loves them.

if i see two women holding hands i would think they were lesbians just the same as two men holding hand i would think they are gay.
i'm not saying i see anything wrong with it, i see them as normal couples just like my husband and i.
but the fact that society sees the way you explained, that is just another one of those double-standards like a woman with many sexual partners is referred to as a slut or a whore, but for a man it is seen as "cool" to have many partners.

Well you ask for it. The bible says it is a sin to be GAY. It says it is an abomination unto the LORD for two men to lay together. It says it is an abomination for two women to lay together. It says that it is unnatural. God made women for men and men for women. Otherwise he would have created Adam and Steve instead of Adam and Eve. If you don't have a bible I would be glad to send you one with the scriptures marked for you. You better rethink you choice of sexuality before Jesus comes back.

I would think that is so cute. I like to see two people happy together. In spite of what society says, they are so in love that they don't care what other people think.
