innocent civilians of both sides were killed and in the war there are no winners or loose rs. it is the people who were defeated. in my opinion though Hezbollah has not been disarmed the infrastructure of Lebanon was damaged to a greater extent. and Israel's strategy won.

We only care b/c Israel is our ally (and I completely understand that, it's cool), but other than that it doesn't really matter. So the UN called a cease fire, big deal. Let's see if they abide by it. Here's my big point (and personal opinion): Hezbollah is a terrorist group, Israel is winning, and they want to duke it out. Leave it alone. Besides. a counsel they don't care about on the other side of the world wagging a finger and signing some papers saying "now you stop this or else" isn't going to change it.

like zeina said lebanon is NOT hezbollah and most christians, sunnis and druz do not support them. However hezbollah does represent a big percentage of the lebanese population (the shiites) and they are a valid sectarian party in the parliament. So to say that they should be eliminated is just irresponsible. The goal is to get them to disarm and that is the biggest challenge since after this war they have more support and more excuses for them to stay armed. As for who won? it is too early and too dangerous to be making such statements as the situation is only going to get worse.

We must understand that there really is no winner when it comes to war. The people are the real losers whenever there is war. It's not a question of who came up with the most number of kills or who came up with the most number of destructions to life and properties, but rather a question on how to rebuild the lives of those who were affected by these senseless wars. There can never be a winner in any war, only losers.

Hezbollah clearly won a symbolic victory. Israel has only gained more blood on it's hands, and I'm sure it has made Hezbollah's ranks swell up with recruits. Israel's strategy of hurting Lebanon until they kick out Hezbollah clearly failed. It only united most of the Lebanese against Israel, not Hezbollah.
Oh... Is "Islamo-Fascist" and "Anti-Semite" this months new catchphrase or something??

THIS IS WHAT HAARETZ AND MAAREF . ISRALI GR8 NEWSPAPER ARE SAYING.

NOTHING FROM THESE 5 POINTS HAPPENED
HIZBULLAH STILL AT THE SOUTH WITH HIS WEAPON
1- THE WEAPON IS STILL WITH THEM
2- IT IS STILL RAINING ROCKETS AT ISRAEL CITIES
3- NONE OF HIZBULLAH LEADERS KILLED
4- THEY REACHED UNILL 7 KILOS INTO LEBANON, 30,000 SOLDIER WITH THE APPACHE AND THE F-16 AND SATTELITE AND ALL THE AMERICAN TECHONOLOGY COULDT REACH FOR 20 KILOMETER INSIDE LEBANON!!!!!
5- HIZBULLAH IS STILL SURVIVING AND STRONGER THEN HE WAS B4 , AND NOW THEY R PAYING FOR EVERY DESTROYED HOUSE OWNERS TO GO AND RENT A HOUSE WHILE THEY REBUILD LEBANON.
SO ONLY STUPID WILL SAY ISRAEL WON THE WAR.
HIZBULLAH ****** ISRAEL
AT THE END, 2 DAYS BEFORE ISRAEL PRIME MINISTER SAID INFRONT OF THE ISRAEL KANIEST , THEIR IS NO ARMY IN THE WORLD CAN TAKE ORDESTROY HIZBULLAH WEAPONS.

First, it's not yet over... Thru past experience, we've learnt that a cease fire is not a final solution. No one has won, but we Lebanese have lost. More than you can imagine.
Please STOP refering to Lebanon as Hizbollah, or Islamist or anti semite or any of those limiting stereotypes. Most of us want them out as much as the next person, but total anihilation of a country is not the answer. We can't fight them out because we do not have the power, but we're all hoping that with the help of the International Community we will be able to disarm them.

One look at Lebanon, then one look at Israel, it is apparent that Israel won in almost every way..... Hezbollah certainly lost in every way....
But the real loser is the world.... the world and the cowardly UN backed off an issue that must be addressed NOW: Islamo-facism and its Nazi ideology..... its terrorist acts.... its dogma.... the opening was there to finish this war started by the Muslim Brotherhood and its off-shoot descendants(really all part of the Muslim Brotherhood) and the world is once again trying to appease and molly coddle the ignorant Islamo-facists.....
It won't work..... they will rearm and strike again.... will the world wake up, NO.... appeasement will be tried again....

The winner is who:
- could stand against tanks, apachees & F16s
- frightened the enemy
- did not leave his country and walk away
- paid the price of freedom
- tries to get back his land
- doesn't use massive power against civilians
- who attacked civilians as a reaction against killing his children
who is that??

Like it or not, Hezbollah is the winner as long as they are alive.
Which is why Israel and every other free thinking country needs
to go after the Islamo Fascist Terrorists with all their might.
