I was trying to get two nails out of my steel frame in my basment because they were pointing down and anyone could of jumped up and hit the nail and get it jabed into there head.

Anyway, after I took them out I went to pick one up and it pricked me and blood came out. It was like a prick form one of the blood sugar test people with DB use to test with. I washed it with soap and water then put a bandaid on it. Its not held but can still see dead skin over the small hole and little black stuff?

Anyway On saturday night I got the chills, and my joints are really stiff elbos and nees ect. also my mussels feel werid.

I'm going in toamrrow/ next day to get my shot for Tetanus . I was wondering if this is too late to do anygood if I have it? Also, Does the Bosster shot prevent it from furthering and heals me from it.
Thanks very much.

Okay, first off, I doubt that you would have contracted Tetanus from the nails in your basement since Tetanus generally lives in damp soil, thats why stepping on a nail is bad, its not the nail, its the soil on the nail. And I wish I knew how old you are because all school age children are vaccinated against Tetanus and the vaccination lasts about 10 years, so if you are still in school, you are protected from Tetanus. The incubation period for the disease is about 8 days from contact and the first symptoms are stiffness in the jaw and neck, followed by stiffness in the stomach and seizures. So relax, I think you will be okay. Still go to the doctor if you are worried, but I bet you do not have to get a shot......Take care...

Tetanus is very serious and eventually presents with the jaws not being able to open among other neurological symptoms. If you went to high school, you have had boosters. The tetanus immunization is generally good for 10 years without an incident and 5 years with an incident.I believe you had a booster in junior high. I believe you should be fine. It's best to get the booster within 24 hours of the incident. Don't worry you are covered.and you are not going to die.

i'm helpful that obtaining the fowl pox is alot worse than getting the shot. fowl pox can leave scars on you, the shot won't. The tetanus shot isn't too undesirable yet your arm in line with possibility a sprint soft for a pair of days. you would be positive!

Go to the doc tomorrow, early as possible. He will prescribe the meds you need and possibly other treatment. Half of South Louisiana had to get Tetanus shots before we started our storm recovery work so you guys should all talk to your GP's about updating your adult innoculations. You never know what's around the corner, darlings.

Go to your Dr and get the shot, you may have a bad infection from the dirt not the tetnus- but 10 years is the outside limit. Go and do not delay or better yet go to ER tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much about it if you cleaned it well with soap and water and used some antibiotic cream then half the work is done. If your not up to date on your immunization you may want to get a booster. If your really really scared you can always get tetanus immunoglobulins jus go see your doctor. And quit worring

You should have had a booster before entering 7th grade as well. Everyone should get a booster every 10 years. The Doctor will prescribe antibiotics if your wound looks infected.

i was up to date on my booster shot when i accidentally cut myself, but because i wasn't showing any symptoms my doctor sent me home. sounds like you have symptoms and it's best of you get seen right away, especially if your last tetanus shot was over 10 years ago. the booster shot won't prevent you from getting worse and it won't heal you when you're already symptomatic. it only helps when you've had the booster and then if you were to get cut. get help fast, oh, and you won't die. your symptoms sound very much like every other illness; cold/flu, so get yourself checked out to rule out any infections.
