A lot of belief systems honor the feminine divine and Christianity over the ages stamped out the feminine aspect of its spirituality. I believe that honoring the feminine aspect of the Divine is necessary because doing so draws us closer to compassion, wise judgment and honoring life and the cycles of the earth.

Gender is, I think, a human invention and a sloppy one at that. I have yet to hear a definition of 'male' or 'female' that adequately accounts for hermaphrodites, the sexless, actions of either gender, and any number of phenomenon which are claimed for one gender or another but show up in the other ones with fair frequency. Though I find it unsurprising that humans would then project such vaguarities onto their dieties, I would find it immensely so if they actually possessed them.
