To whom?
While a child with a cleft lip or an adult with burn scars on their face shouldn't let such things affect their self-image, the reality is that unless they are repaired or corrected, the world is going to treat them in ways that may well cause them to lose self-esteem.
While my self-esteem was never directly connected with my boobs, they were certainly a part of my self-image as a woman, a mother and a sexual being. Since my mastectomies I've stopped dating because I can't stand the thought of taking my shirt off for the first time with a new man. I wish I could have reconstructive surgery! (But I lost my arm when I was a baby, and it never once bothered me to take my shirt off because of that.)
Self-image *includes* the body, and if there's something about one's body that can be changed by plastic surgery to be more pleasing to the individual, it may well increase their self esteem. That's not a wrong message, it's the way things are. Any teen with acne could tell you, and it's true.
If their lack of self-esteem is not really about that particular body part, then it won't help. Having said that, I do think that some of the women getting breast augmentation might feel a whole lot better about what they've got if they came to the clinic on breast cancer day.

Actually plastic surgery can help you with self-image and make you feel better. But you have to be careful by choosing the right doctor because there it a lot fake doctors out there.
Good Luck girl:)

people do what they want, if others are weak enough that they think they aren't worth natural acceptance then that's their problem, but i hate modification surgery altogether, I'm just tired of weak minded people that cant except themselves, the only people that i say need them are people with deformities
