Without any doubt Toyota.
The real battle would be Toyota vs. Honda.
The Mazda R's are rotary motors, as we all know, which aren't exactly the easiest cars to maintain if you're used to an engine that has all the moving parts.
Toyota uses cheap parts, cheap manufacturing, and standard electronics. Their engines, brakes and suspension, and interior are all easy to maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot.
Mazda takes a little more of a performance approach (Mazda 6, Miata, RX-series) and their vehicles can be just as easy to maintain, or a lot more difficult.
In terms of running life, Mazda can be very reliable if you religiously maintain it, but Toyota can take a world of abuse without going bad. I prefer Mazda for the performance and the looks, but if you want "easy" and "long life" Toyota is where to look.

I would definitely pick the Toyota over the Mazda because although they both can be pretty reliable at first, When the Mazda need repairs, the parts prices are through the roof! For example, an Idle air control valve on a 97 Mazda 626, a relatively inexpensive part on other vehicles was over 400 dollars, my cost, whoa! Lifters on a 92 Protege 2.0 dohc, 32 dollars a piece, there are sixteen of them and they were all worn in just 80K miles.
Other simple stuff like starters and alternators are also priced way too high.

While many Toyotas are pretty tough, there are some Mazdas that hold up pretty well. I've seen Mazda motors with over 200,000 miles. However, it really depends on the car. A Mazda Protege is likely to be a good bet. A '95 RX-7 is not.

frequently in an election, the most objective is on the presidential candidate and the vice chairman %. is merely about like window dressing. This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, inspite of the undeniable fact that, with passions operating extreme among both activities, the vice presidential selection will be a needed component on both the Democratic and Republican tickets, possibly even to the point of encouraging flow-over voters. As for myself, i'd be sticking with my selection for president no remember who's selected because the vice presidential candidate.
