No: but the missions and face of Bond have changed.

Up to recent, the Bond alumi of Connery, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan ALL have met with Bond fan approval. I haven't heard much about the purported "new" Bond other than the global voiced outrage earlier this year of the new appointee. I think it's safe to say the Bond production/ casting crew got it wrong--and they're hopefully back on the drawing board looking for a suitable Bond replacement in Brosnan's absence. Of course....Bond fans would welcome Brosnan's return......

As for the Bond missions: Things were fine and dandy with US/Soviet cold war tensions being what they were....and Bond dealt with them all well--for the world's sake. Then the missions of course had to change, now that the Russians were no longer visible enemies of the US, England and the Allied world. Bond then faced ambitious villians who sought global control and/or destruction.

James Bond WILL return. And this time, look for him to embattle Arab terrorist baddies. Hopefully, Bond's new face will be one fans planet wide WILL approve.

I enjoyed Die Another Day. The problem is that then upcoming movie looks like it is going to suck so badly that it may just kill the whole series. They should have gotten Clive Owen or Dougray Scott to play the part. You know, someone who's actually Scottish??? Not some blond aussie. And they shouldn't have tried to make the movies "darker". James Bond movies are supposed to be a bit fun. The movies aren't passe, the studio that owns the rights to the story just needs to figure out how to do it correctly.

I don't think so.

Look at how well the Bourne series did in theatres.

The Bond movies need to change their focus and tackle other enemies besides the cartoony villains they've been showing.
