I've recently heard that the expansion of the universe is accelerating, and not slowing down as one would expect in a universe that would "rebound". I don't think there is a clear consensus on there ever being a "big crunch" or that the universe will just keep on expanding.

The Big Bang is an extinct theory. It never happened. Textbooks are alittle behind the times. The real theory on how the universe was created is explained in the M Theory.
This is relatively new, It's only been aroind sine 1995, I will make it my mission to inform people of this until it's popular knowledge.
P.S. When I was first informed f M Theory I was literally incapable of coherent thought for about two days. I was shocked. I was shocked because it is correct.
Everything that could ever be asked is actually very close to being aswered. CHECK IT OUT!

The universe was not an exploding mass; "big bang" is just a rhetorical name for it.
It's more like a rapid expansion...like blowing up a balloon.
And that expansion appears to be accelerating rather than slowing down.

Maybe billions of years, maybe never. We'll just have to wait and see.
