I am 23. A few months ago I got a UTI, and since I don't have insurance I tried some over-the-counter meds first. I took AZO Standard, and it worked in a day or two. Ever since then I've been getting UTI symptoms about once a month. They are rarely painful, and they ususally go away when I take the AZO, but they are still pretty uncomfortable. I am very careful about heading to the bathroom after sex and drinking plenty of water, so I don't know what is going on. Why might I be having these symptoms so frequently? Is it possible that they are all related to the original infection?

I had to give up caffeine as it irritates my bladder. It's been working like a charm. Plenty of decaffeinated products out there.

Still, I've been told getting over a UTI can take months even when on antibiotics. You don't want to fool around with this. My intuition says it's still the original infection. When I took antibiotics I took Cipro for at least 2 wks., and had to really watch I didn't take/eat things that blocked it's effect.

Be careful down there.

OUCH!!! I feel for ya. I used to have UTI's alot, way back when. They say drink cranberry juice but AZO has cranberry tablets you can take if you don't like the juice. It is possible you have an infection that keeps flaring up from time to time and without the antibiotics, will probably not heal. Hope u get better soon.

I'm sorry you don't have insurance, but you need to go to the dr. You probably have the same infection and the AZO is just tempering the symptoms. If you don't get this treated it can move up into your kidneys, and THAT would be expensive. The med that the dr will probably give you is fairly inexpensive (under $20), which will quickly offset the cost of the OTC drugs.

My dear girl I am 22 and have been there before. I first got UTI when i changed sexual partners, I find thats a trigger for it from what my doctor told me, apparently some girls are just sensetive. I never had any problems with my first partner but with my current partner I had UTI every fortnight to a month for 2 years and then it suddenly stopped. You should try to get antibiotics for it as it is an infection and the doctor told me that if you dont get rid of it properly the first time it will keep coming back. see a doctor, take medication, make sure you go to the toilet before and after sex and dont think about it and fear it every time you haves sex, from experience it makes it worse cause its like you convinve yourself that your going to get it and make sure you drink loads and loads of water to make you urinate and flush it out. Good luck i know the pain, i hope this works for you, also another thing i thought was good, i bough cranberry t ablets designed for relief from UTI from the pharmacy, give it a go.

I've had them and took one or two AZO and thought thats all I had to take. But read the directions.Trust me, take what it tells you to. If you take a couple and it goes away, that doesnt mean to quit taking the AZO,just cause it went away so soon...it will come back if you dont follow thru with what it says. What I'm tryig to say is :DONT QUIT TAKING AZO'S CAUSE THE SYMPTOMS GO AWAY.Keep taking it.

Drink cranberry juice every day. Its the best and most natural cure for UTI. Been there, done that, it really works.

This is a add on:
To Miss M., I have not heard the word fortnight in a long long time. It brings back memories of when my mother was not so Americanized. Thanks for the memories. (to all Americans a fortnight is 2 weeks)
