everytime i try it says on the screen-LIMEWIRE WAS UNABLE TO INITIALIZE & START.THIS IS USUALLY DUE TO A FIREWALL PROGRAM BLOCKING LIMEWIRE'S ACCESS TO THE INTERNET OR LOOPBACK CONNECTIONS ON THE LOCAL MACHINE.PLEASE ALLOW LIMEWIRE ACCESS TO THE INTERNET & RESTART LIME WIRE.

I use mozzilla firefox and i used to use explorer, but i never drop my firewall when using limewire as it invites viruses etc.I have used limewire for a couple of years now, -dropping your firewall does enable faster downloads , but what i do now is download all the really long downloads at night while i am sleeping(mainly movies) My main virus protector is trend micro pc-cillin. this scans everything i download.I drag the downloaded program from my limewire library onto my desktop --right click on it and select -scan for viruses then if it is clean i open it up with a double left click. I only just downloaded limewire again this morning,-i have a firewall but encountered no problems with it?
dont forget to have antivirus available just in case you get a virus.Avast is exelent out of the freebies as it gets everything. It is available from this link-http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html

I highly recommend against using limewire to download ANYTHING limewire is full of spyware, and adware, and many other types of malicious files (I know from experience), however... No matter what program wants access to your internet, your software based firewall, can be made to have an exception for it. really it depends on your firewall.

If you're using Zone Alarm for your firewall, you have the option of blocking or allowing any site you'd like. Simply pull the program up in front of you, click on the "Firewall" tab on the left and then the "zone" tab at the top. You then can click on "add" at the bottom and then on "host/site" ...then you can type in limewire.com or w/e addy they use into the "trusted" zones. Then in "descriptions" just type in "stuff" or anything else you'd like, then click on "lookup" and it will automatically put in the ip addy of that site for you. Be sure to Click on Apply and OK at the bottom..then you're ready to go. Need further help? hit me on dumbbutt4321@yahoo.com and i'll be happy to help. Larry.
