My daughter wants a cell phone and an mp3 player like an ipod...would it be best to just purchase a cell phone with a built in mp3 player. I realize you have to pay for the songs to download them, but is there a montly charge also for the music, and does listening to the music use up minutes?? I am technically illiterate !

Get her a Samsung T809 instead. They are exactly the same except the RAZR can break very easily. I broke mine just by flipping it open. The T809 is a slider so she might like it better. And the ringtones and songs and photo quality are better on the phone. I like my T809.

It depends on the cellular phone service you are signed up with. My friend has Cingular and his Razr does not play songs. I have Verizon & the one that I purchased for myself about 3 weeks ago does play music (built in mp3 player), however my daughers does not and it is also Verizon. The new Razr for Verizon has the built in MP3 player as well as videos, navigational system, etc. In order to download music onto this particular Razr with Verizon you can go about it 2 ways. Buy their V Cast Music Essentials Kit which includes a CD to download music & a cable to connect your phone to the computer. I can tell you that my computer is about 4 years old and does not have a 2.0 USB port so it does not work on mine as it needs to be a high speed 2.0 USB plug. It does work on my lap top which is 8 months old and my computer at work which is not quite 3 years old as both of these have the 2.0 USB. Doing it this way will allow you to download your own music without spending anymore money other than purchasing the kit.

Now if you want to download from Verizon you must sign up for V Cast which is free for the first 30 days and then it will cost $15 a month. Downloads for music is I believe .99. $15 a month may sound like a lot however, you can go onto the internet anytime of the day and you will not be charged airtime as non-vcast phones would be which can save you money.

Good luck!

IN the case if your daughter like to hear mp3 songs , it should go for Sony Ericsson Walkman Phones Modal W550i ,W700i , W800i and W810i .
Thus phone have a good soud quality and good power consumption battery .
