Hundreds of studies and experiments have been done in social psychology to test attribution theory. All of them, to my knowledge, reveal the same thing: Attractive people are always attributed positive characteristics.
Studies have ranged from parents guessing whether attractive or unattractive children disobeyed in school (naturally, the unattractive ones were picked as being naughty) to the attributes of a man who is simply seen in the company of an attractive woman (if the woman is attractive, the man is seen as more intelligent, a good potential partner, etc.)
Cross-cultural studies show that this is a universal phenomenon, although the standards of attractiveness may vary.
Ergo, if you want to be judged by others in a positive way, it's always best to care about your physical appearance.

Apart from job requirements, it's nice to be all dressed up once in awhile. It's a great boost to your self-esteem.
It's only shallow when it borders on vanity.
I believe the media plays a role in this in that to keep a relationship alive, you need to be attractive to keep your partner interested.
Of course logically taking care of yourself is beneficial to your health & well-being not to mention personal hygiene.

Vision is the most powerul human data input. Your physical appearance is how you are perceived and (let's be honest) judged. If you are clean and well turned-out, it says that you are the kind of person who attends to detail and will take care of things. As a reflection of the inner self, your physical appearance can attest to your state of mind and emotional well-being. On a deeper, spiritual level we realize that our outward appearance resonates with our appreciation of life, our participation in it, and our custodianship of the vessel we have been given. It shows how much we care for others to present them with our best selves.

I think there's no logical reason why people should care about their physical appearance, other than, yes, I agree with you, job purposes. Other than that, I don't think there's any necessity to really care about what you wear. As long as you're decent when picking what you wear, I think it's just fine.

I actually have an somewhat good answer FOR THIS ONE! lol. inspite of the undeniable fact that, I DO dislike Twilight to an volume astounding--regularly because i'm a author and that i hate how person-friendly it grow to be for her to promote her crap--I type of are conscious of it . . . in case you try truly, truly not person-friendly to. ok, right that's a bypass. :)) if you're like me, you discover that men with a mysterious charisma is pleasing. on the start of Twilight we did not recognize a lot about Edward and it made it exciting. because he grow to be a secret and all. i'm, in my view, in touch in secret. it is exciting to take it, unwrap and decipher what's in it. yet, that's merely me. possibly that's why Bella loved him. truthfully, i imagine Edward grow to be a touch determined. i imagine he DID imagine it grow to be weird and wonderful that he couldn't examine her -- once back, secret component. secret's irresistable and that i imagine that's what lured him in, no longer HER inspite of the undeniable fact that, merely the actual undeniable actuality that he couldn't use his options-studying skills on him. lol. So, secret. be conscious: numerous human beings opt to assert, "Oh, Edward's acceptable and he has no faults; it makes him the suited personality and for this reason makes him flat and 2d and . . . and so on." If he's so ideal why do human beings then opt to ***** about him being abusive?! Ever imagine of it like that? I stand impartial on the problem. I hate being one-sided. inspite of the undeniable fact that, i really wish this does no longer effect the writers' of the following day or different youngster-wannabees. i desire actual lit. the form that's good, good, good youngster lit. LOL. no longer that crap. you recognize, you may want to seem up Lynsay Sands, she writes good vamp/romance novels! and they are also hilarious! lol. i do not truly take care of Meyer. yet all i visit finish to is that the secret from each and each area drew them at the same time, yet that wasn't reason to fall for an additional. i imagine, if I were her, i doesn't like how he took continually to communicate over such as her and then he grow to be SO dang controlling! Ugh. --MP
