For some reason it seems that a lot of guys I know have been ending up with jock itch, or I believe the male version of a yeast infection.
I had it for a while and the symptoms included small red patches showing up on the shaft of my penis and these areas would harden and then the top layer of skin would fall off and this would keep repeating. When this was happening it was often very itchy.
So I went to the doctor and he said it was probably a yeast infection and said it was probably from masturbating with oil-based lube. Apparently it traps the moisture and the heat also makes for good living conditions for yeast/fungus.
He prescribed to me some Nystatin/Triamcinolone and told me to apply it to the skin of the penis a couple of times a day for a week.
This medication worked very well but when I stopped use after a week the symptoms eventually reoccurred. Now I've restarted and will try it for a month. Has anyone had this problem or can anyone give me some advice?

I recently found this medication in the backpack of my apartment-mate so he must be having the same problem (I didn't bring it up since it can be an embarrassing subject).
I also was talking to another acquaintance of mine and brought up the subject of "jock itch" and he said he had also dealt with it before.
This is giving me the idea that it is very common, although no one likes to bring it up since they are usually ashamed.
Also my doc told me to apply it for a week but I read on a website that you should use it for a month so that's why I'm gonna try it for a month this time around.

Everyone, male and female, have yeast on their bodies all of the time. It's when they are over-active that you get the problem. First of all, yeast grows in a warm and moist environment. So you should be wearing cotton briefs to absorb the moisture and loose fitting pants. Don't shower with very hot water or harsh soaps and use the nystatin and probably some anti-fungal powder in the area. Also, you can bleach your underwear to get rid of any residual yeast that might be thriving in them. Take acidophiles tablets from the health food store and eat yogurt which contains this culture. It kills off overactive yeast problems. You might consider sleeping nude to really air out the area at night and avoid poly-blend fabrics next to your skin. Good Luck.

Jock Itch is actually the same as athlete's foot. It is a fungal infections. I included a link or two to give you more information about it. You need to make sure that you change your underwear daily, dry off your genitalia completely after a shower and do shower every day. Apply the lotion or cream as directed. It will help to either not wear any underwear to bed or to wear boxers to bed. Since Jock Itch is a fungal infection, it likes dark, moist areas. This is summer, you are sweating and so it is harder to get rid of. If you swim, do not wear a wet bathing suit all day long, that just promotes the growth. It can can take a month to completely kill the fungus.
Good luck

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:
https://bitly.im/aMBCx
Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

stop the oil-base lube. Instead, use pure Aloe Vera jelly to lube up. This heals the skin, and is good lube. You can't constantly use Nystatin. This induces allergic reactions in some. let me know how you make out.

mine is so diverse. but i would say if you drink and dress preppy. yah there are sporty people but not to the exreme. we dont like our cheerleaders and then there are the people that are gothic-ish and they are just creepy because they get really annoying and make everything a big deal. so if you are down to party and have a good time and dress nice you're basically in. c:
