You don't say from what country you originate, but american culture is very diversified - in music, theater, palate, etc. and it's not "white bread", nor has it been for decades. Maybe you're going through a tough time of it adjusting to your environment. Give yourself some time and try to be less judgmental about what you're experiencing. Being inquisitive is a very good thing; it is how we all learn, but when you assume you already know all the answers, they're negative and you state your assumptions in the form of a question, it appears the only thing for which you are looking is a confirmation of your own opinion. No one can really learn about a culture, nor its people that way.
